The media and general public can help to preserve this horticultural treasure by insisting that the requirements of Charleston City Council be given strict adherence or even requesting more stringent requirements. Contact the City Council and let them know that you support their work to preserve and protect the tree. Get Involved Recent actions by the City Council may not be enough to protect the tree. The 52 acres surrounding the Angel Oak are fully developable and valued at $3.5 million.
