New Digital Guide to Olmsted鈥檚 North American Landscapes
What鈥檚 Out There Olmsted is a new digital guide created by 独家爆料 in honor of the bicentennial of Frederick Law Olmsted, Sr.'s birth. Previewed above in a short 2:37-minuted video, the guide features more than 300 North American landscapes designed by Olmsted, Sr., and his successor firms. Olmsted, Sr. is well known as the co-designer of New York City鈥檚 iconic Central Park and the U.S. Capitol Grounds, but his legacy and that of his successor firms is vast. What鈥檚 Out There Olmsted includes a detailed and illustrated introduction, a searchable database of North American landscapes, and nearly 100 biographical entries about the Olmsted family and the firm鈥檚 many employees, consultants, and collaborators. What鈥檚 Out There Olmsted is optimized for iPhones and similar handheld devices, and includes What鈥檚 Nearby, a GPS-enabled feature that locates all landscapes within a given distance, customizable by mileage (up to 100 miles) or walking time (ten, twenty, or thirty minutes).
