World Heritage in the Americas: Confluence of Cultures, San Antonio, Texas, Thursday May 31 to Saturday June 2, 2012.
2012 is the 40th anniversary of UNESCO鈥檚 World Heritage Convention. USICOMOS wishes to celebrate this event with the intent to launch a permanent process of regional cooperation that will ensure greater participation and contributions to the spirit and the aims of the Convention.
The Symposium will be an opportunity to celebrate the cultural heritage of Texas. In particular, attention will be brought to the five San Antonio Missions, including The Alamo. Collectively, the San Antonio Missions have 鈥渙utstanding universal value鈥 as defined by the guidelines for the World Heritage Sites. A World Heritage nomination has been written for the Missions, now on the US 鈥渢entative list鈥 for consideration. More information about the conference can be found .
